Nourishing People Like Flowers

As I sit here, surrounded by a small sea of California poppies, I’m struck by a simple thought: what if we treated people the way we tend to flowers? With gentleness, care, and an appreciation for their impermanence.

Imagine letting people bloom in their own time, tending to their roots and thorns patiently, and witnessing their beauty unfold. We nourish the soil they come from, trusting that what’s meant to grow will flourish, and that growth can’t be forced.

I’m learning to nurture my soil more, so I can pour care into others as if offering fresh water—gently, intentionally, and with respect for their needs. I try to notice beauty in real time, accepting it as petals fall, knowing that every beginning carries its ending. In that acceptance, there’s peace, and in every season, a quiet unfolding without control.
